Having completed numerous projects eds are a well established Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor with years of experience. eds have carried out Asbestos Removal projects in a variety of locations, ranging from occupied industrial buildings and residential buildings to fire damaged structures.

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Asbestos is the single greatest cause of work-related deaths in the UK. Asbestos due to its strong incombustible properties and high heat resistance was used extensively as a building material in the UK from the 1950s through to the mid-1980s, and any building built before 2000 can contain Asbestos. Asbestos can be found in materials such as thermal insulation, reinforced cement, noise attenuation, cloth, rope and fire-proof boarding.

Asbestos in its complete, undamaged form is safe. The danger occurs when the Asbestos fibres become airborne through the Asbestos being damaged or disturbed. When high levels of Asbestos are inhaled or swallowed the fibres can cause chronic lung diseases such as asbestosis, mesothelioma and cancer. Asbestos is responsible for approximately 4,000 deaths a year in the UK alone.

eds Asbestos Removal teams are fully trained and medically monitored to ensure that the utmost precaution is taken whilst removing or disposing of Asbestos. eds invest heavily in training to guarantee that the most current and effective safety measures and procedures are employed.

eds provide a full range or services related to Asbestos, including surveys, encapsulation, removal and disposal. It is a legal requirement that an Asbestos register must be prepared in accordance with HSE publication MDHS 100 for all non-residential buildings and that a full intrusive survey is undertaken of any building prior to demolition. eds employ in-house experienced, trained surveyors to undertake this work and provide documented and referenced reports. Totally independent UKAS Approved Analysts are utilised to undertake air sampling/fibre counting and bulk sampling in fully compliance with EN450001, ensuring tha the work is carried out efficiently and with the utmost safety.
